How did BalloonzUK begin?

My love for event decorating started with my own 18th birthday party. Whilst balloon styling wasn’t quite what it is today, I loved creating a space that felt special and memorable. Years later, when planning my 30th birthday, I created my first modern balloon display and quickly realised how much I enjoyed transforming venues and bringing ideas to life. That passion eventually became BalloonzUK.

I love decorating milestone celebrations. Whether it’s a special birthday, graduation, wedding, business launch or company anniversary, there’s something incredibly rewarding about helping people celebrate important moments in their lives and creating memories that last long after the event has finished.

I have a soft spot for timeless colour palettes such as black, white and gold. They’re elegant, versatile and work beautifully across birthdays, weddings and corporate events. That said, my inner child still loves bright, colourful displays packed with personality and fun!

Work with the venue, not against it. Every venue has features that can be enhanced to create maximum impact. I always encourage clients to make use of existing focal points and, if the venue has high ceilings, use that height to its full potential. Sometimes the best decorations are the ones that complement the space rather than compete with it.

One of my favourite events was a wedding for a couple who planned their entire celebration in just 12 weeks. I was involved in much more than the balloons, helping with chair covers, sash styling, table décor, aisle arrangements and many of the finishing touches. Watching everything come together and seeing the couple enjoy their day made all the hard work worthwhile.

I don’t believe decorations should be chosen from a catalogue and simply delivered on the day. I take the time to understand each client’s vision, venue and budget before recommending options. Whether it’s a simple birthday setup or a large corporate installation, I focus on creating displays that feel personal, stylish and perfectly suited to the occasion.

My favourite displays are large statement backdrops that completely transform a space. I especially love incorporating my gold rectangle frames, which I have in three different sizes. They work beautifully in smaller venues where height is needed and can be combined to create a stunning focal point for larger events.

Seeing a client’s reaction when they first walk into their finished event space. After all the planning and preparation, that moment when everything comes together is always my favourite part of the job.

When I’m not decorating events, you’ll usually find me training my dog, Vinnie. He’s a Belgian Malinois cross German Shepherd and definitely keeps me busy. I enjoy spending time outdoors with him and continuing his training.

Before starting BalloonzUK, I spent over 15 years performing with a marching band and even had the opportunity to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London. It’s an experience I’ll never forget and one that taught me a lot about teamwork, creativity and performing under pressure.
